Are you a multi-sport enthusiast who can’t help but smile after an outdoor run, a follow-along workout video, and a brutal weightlifting session? Well, major news flash! You can do all that and more with the latest Workout Trainer AI app update.

We now support distance-based workouts and mixed workouts that combine different types of movement…for instance, you could do a workout consisting of warm-up jumping jacks, 12 push-ups, a 1-mile run, burpees until failure, then some cool-down stretching. Sound like your jam? Great! Let’s take a look at how it works.

Tracking Your GPS Distance Workouts

When you play an outdoor distance-based workout, start the GPS tracking and enable location sharing on your device. We’ll capture your GPS details to map out your path.

After completing your workout, we’ll summarize your efforts with a map of our your route. Of course, you can customize who gets to see your maps in your app’s Account Settings.

Creating GPS Distance Workouts

You can create distance workouts by adding at least one distance-based exercise with a target distance or duration. Choose ‘Distance-based’ instead of our standard Timed or Repetition-based options.

  • If you are going for a specific distance, make sure it’s greater than 30 yards to ensure the most accurate GPS data.
  • If you are going for time, try to aim for at least 20 seconds for better GPS accuracy.

Try Our Top Running Workouts! A great way to get familiar with our new distance workouts is to play one:

  • Running for Beginners | Basic walk and jog workout that can get anyone into running. After completing this workout 2-5 times, your body will be in shape to start jogging and running for a longer period of time. You’ll feel great doing this in a park or along a scenic path.
  • Around The Block | This is a nicely timed walk/jog circuit you can easily do around your neighborhood or at a park. Bring the dog along!
  • Happy Park Run | This is a fun interval style running workout for anyone looking to improve their 5K or parkrun time.
  • Cardio: Walk/Run | Time to switch up the cardio! A little bit of interval training won’t hurt you!
  • Outdoor Explorer | Get that sun-kissed glow as you attend to some outdoor adventures! For this workout, you will need a little space so we recommend that you complete it in your backyard or at the park.
  • Standard Interval Run | Get going with this straightforward timed interval run! We will warm up with 5 minutes of jogging then get into five rounds of running and jogging intervals before cooling down.
  • Dynamic Duo | This workout is second to none! Well maybe Batman and Robin could be more legendary…but who really cares. These two sets of dynamic movement circuits will help you move and look like your heroes!
  • Classic Interval Run | Intervals are a bit harder than running at a simple, steady pace. Get excited to make this style of running part of your training routine to make your steady pace running feel easier.
  • Sprinting Speed | Want to train like a sprinter? Sprinters typically have strong, lean body types and their training is a large reason why. Get a jump start on training like a sprinter with this 15 minute mixed workout. All you need is a set of moderate to heavy weighted dumbbells. Stay balanced with a healthy-minded lifestyle beyond the run.
  • Running Sprints | This is a 40 minute HIIT-style workout which will help you increase your speed.
  • High Intensity Running | HIIT runs help runners build overall strength. Challenge yourself to go fast during these short burst running intervals.
  • Tough Tempo Run | Perform run intervals going at tempo pace with 8 min recovery time in between the three sets. Make sure you warm up and cool down on your own.
  • Intense Track Run | Head to your neighborhood / school track. This is a great way to get some miles in if you’re training for a long race and need to stay local.
  • 20 Min Running Interval | The title says it all. Have fun with this running HIIT. When you do your sprints, aim for a 9 out of 10 effort. Try to be consistent in your pace across sprinting intervals.
  • 1-2-3 Running Workout | Get some mileage with this variable distance interval-style run. The core of this running workout will have you making strides at your marathon pace and then easier pace. This is a longer (2+ hour) workout so remember to pace yourself!
  • Sports Conditioning Running | This is a 20 minute mix of running intensity and length to simulate the unpredictability of sports and make you a more versatile athlete.
